Continuing my track down towards Basingstoke i decided to take in a few more sites before going into work. Due to time pressing on i didn't get to all of the PB's i wished to get to. but there is no rush and a repeat visit is on the cards as i gradually head out towards the area east of Mattingley and head towards the M3. Sat out on the turning in Church Road just past Swallowfield. Buried deep into the undergrowth and not the easy to get to, but surprisingly clean on the inside once i had fully skirted the PB and found the entrance. It was a balancing act just to make sure i never fell down the river bank. EDOBID: 5730 Type 24 EDOBID: 12026 Three Anti Tank Cylinders sat opposite the entrance to Heckfield Place Having turned into the entrance to Heckfield Place - the area was under construction and it wasn't long before a Security Officer approached asking what i wanted. He was more than helpful to me even though i only wanted to park up to have a nosey around. He even explained to me to provide the excuse i was looking for magic mushrooms if challenged by the site management!! Then heading off towards the A33 instead of carrying onto the tempting area of Bramshill and its surrounds i then stopped off at Floods Farm and spoke to the owner of the property. Asking if i could take a look at the PB in his back garden, the man was top notch and totally interested in finding out more about the PB. He informed me it was listed. EDOBID: 11714 Type 22 Sat just north of a tributary of the River Loddon and overlooking open farm land. Just a little further down is another type 22 but more of that later. EDOBID: 3968 The first view of the PB. Cutting over marshy ground to the edge of a small river. I decided to go back out onto the road and cross into the field with the cows. I has to get across the Loddon so picking my crossing point, tasking the boots and socks off and using the water to cool my stings..... Looking for the PB variant i decided to have a nose in the woods located nearby and found these: The OP? has two OP and two entrances. The pit is just that - nothing of note inside, no lockers or storage areas but intriguing non the less. The MOD security sat chatting away near by meant sufficient time was spent here before being discovered. What i was looking for: EDOBID: 6558 Used as a guardhouse and the PB is sat on the top of this. The security officers were asking if i could take a look niside but the gate was chained and rusty. Seeking permission would have meant going around to the main entrance on the other side of the Command Ammunition Depot. The history of this site is interesting in isteslf and i might ask for permission to enter the site. EDOBID: 6227 Type 26 Time was really pushing on now and faced with limited parking in the area i took a peak at this PB. Ignoring the signs saying high vis / toe tectores i brazenly walked past a person having a smoke in the car park and walked to the rear of a storage container area. I loved this PB. Shuttering in place, blackout curtain........ EDOBID: 6228 Type 26 Not starting to loose out to time and my patience and tolerance of the nettles i made this my last visit for the day. Heading back up towards Bramley Almost completely overgrown and impossible to see from the road. Sat alongside the MOD fence and accessible. Again the bonus is inside with the evidence of the black out curtain rail still in situ. The view from the road. That was me done for the day. Off to a pertol station for a bottle of drink just as the heavens opened up on me. I got away with that one. Changed then off to work a happy man.
