Three Pillboxes. Marsh Hill to Kings Wier.

Three Pillboxes. Marsh Hill to Kings Wier.

Right - finally a day off to get back out there and pick off a few PB's that i couldn't get to due to time factors, or lack of correct research.
Again a mixed day ranging from wind, rain, hail stones, sun and me stupidly deciding to walk the route after again dropping the car off close to work. Thankfully i cheated at the March Hill PB when a coach stopped to ask for directions to the M11 and i cadged a lift.
Walking up the Crooked Mile for those who know, it can be a close thing when walking that close to the traffic!!

Anyhow, a quick short cut over the fence, the obligatory Pheasant flying off and what i wanted was for the type 22 to be sat in a field and not in the rear of a private residence. I was blessed when i saw it and the sun actually smiled on me. Marsh Hill means exactly that though. Boggy ground and sadly a flooded PB.

Heavily under water.

Walking up the hill to Lower Nazeing i took the public footpath opposite to Tatsfield Avenue and walking the circuit of the field i eventually got the the PB at the end of the cluster of PB's at Perry Hill that i had viewed last year. This one was almost completely buried and if i did not specifically know it was there it could easily be missed. A big thank you for the recommendation to get to this PB but i was feeling strangely angry that it should have been so unceremoniously buried. Shame.

The two AT blocks to the Northern rear section of the PB.

The only internal shots i could get from the only accessible embrasure.

The rear approach to the PB.

Some local scenery

Working my way up Nazeing New Road (B194) to the South Eastern Approach to Broxbourne i think i found 2 AT cylinders on the northern side of Bridge arches. This needs to possibly be confirmed. The PB i was actually hunting for (second time of searching still seems to have been removed as i have hunted everywhere for it.

Walking back down the Lee Valley Walk towards Waltham Abbey i finally caught view of the following. Correct research would have led me to this PB earlier but i usually cycle North and return in the dark and in my defence the tree covering the PB has been cut back.
